The Cost of Regulation on Businesses in the West Midlands rises to £5.4 billion
The 2008 edition of the British Chambers of Commerce’s Burdens Barometer shows that the cumulative cost to businesses in the West Midlands of new regulation since 1998 has risen to £5.4 billion, up from £4.5 billion last year.

CHAMBER WELCOMES RELIEF FOR SMALL BUSINESS, BUT THIS IS STILL A £700 MILLION TAX HIKE!
The Chamber of Commerce Herefordshire and Worcestershire has welcomed news of the concessions to changes made to Capital Gains Tax by Alistair Darling in the pre budget report last year. A 10% capital gains tax rate will be introduced in April on the first £1 million of gains and the 18% charge will remain on gains over this amount.
