What is Train to Gain?
By ensuring that your employees have the right skills to do their job, Train to Gain can help boost productivity and help you to stay ahead of the competition. Independent Skills brokers can develop a comprehensive plan to identify the skills that your business needs, helping to pinpoint the right training. This process is free and will provide your company with a valuable plan that can support skills development now and in the future. Knowing what funding is available to support training is critical, but often difficult to identify, Train to gain brokers have the knowledge and experience to help you maximise funding opportunities to support your training

What is a Skills Broker?
A skills broker is an independent adviser who will help your organisation to ascertain the competencies and qualifications that are most relevant and appropriate for the business and its employees. They will identify whether there are specific training programmes that could help the company, such as Apprenticeships, Foundation Degrees, NVQ’S or ad hoc training. It is likely that your organisation will combine different types of training to achieve its objectives. They will work out what public funds can be drawn on, and what the company will need to pay for. For very small businesses the Government will provide funds to offset some of the costs of releasing staff to undertake training for courses such as literacy and numeracy and first full Level 2 qualifications.
What is the link between the Skills Pledge and Train to Gain?
The skills pledge simply sets out your public commitment to developing your staff to achieve basic skills and competencies. Train to Gain will support this process by identifying relevant training and funding that helps you to achieve your commitment. You are still eligible to access train to gain, without commitment to the Skills pledge and vice versa you can commit to the Skills pledge without accessing train to gain.
